September 11th, 2001, left the world grieving
When we welcomed those born to this novel generation,
A novel generation yet to claim a name,
A novel generation somewhat numb to our pain,
A novel generation somewhat shielded
Until they reached the brink of adulthood.
When everyone learns that everyday heroes help heroes…
Now, they feel a familiar loss,
Just as heinous, just as gross,
Surrendering milestone after milestone.
Will they ever have their senior prom?
Will they make memories on a senior trip?
Will they celebrate graduation?
They are the future who should save us,
So we must pave a path for them.
When everyone learns that everyday heroes help heroes…
While the essential workers brave the world,
Those deemed nonessential shelter in.
While the novel generation has cabin fever,
A generation of baby boomers, generation xers,
Millennials, and even a few from generation z,
Face cabin fever to bring the future ease.
When everyone learns that everyday heroes help heroes…
