Eduspiration

A synergy of education and inspiration!

”Double, double, toil and trouble…”

I have quite a few plans brewing for the summer, spurning turbulence in my thoughts and wildly conflicted passions. I will be attending an online APSI for APAAS and participating in a NYPL residency after my first craft market, for which I am not yet prepared. I would love to be able to sew all summer, to make quilts for loved ones, more bags and accessories for my shop, and to learn sashiko decorative style quilting.

Still, I would love to read books by my favorite authors. Arundhati Roy’s memoir will be first on my list as soon as I finish grading my last paper for the school year. However, the APSI and residency will consume my mind as I obsess over these opportunities and expand my repertoire.

At first, I was conflicted, thinking my professional life would encroach on my personal sphere, but I had to reframe my thinking to realize that my summer will be book ended with personal pleasures, and my professional obligations will be just as enriching and rewarding. I just need to brew one potion at a time: after reading Mother Mary Comes to Me, sewing inventory for the market and my store, engaging in my AP workshop and residency, sewing some more, I will enjoy a well-deserved two-week vacation!
